Newham Recorder Covers Money Wise Challenge: "Newham Schools Put to Test by Money Wise Game"

NEWHAM, London

Dot Dot Fire’s past Money Wise Challenge at ExCel London welcomed 700 pupils from across London into a futuristic storyline where they competed to save London from the Cost-of-Living Crisis. This trailblazing event was designed to impart young people with real-life skills they can immediately apply to help their communities face mounting financial pressure.

Fighting the villains of Debt, Unemployment, and Inflation, students answered questions and scenarios, aiming to score the most points overall to become Money Wise Champions. Two Newham schools did exactly that: Stratford Manor Primary won first place in the years 5-6 age group. Meanwhile, St. Bonaventure’s took gold in the year 7-9 category.

 

Because of the importance of our initiative, we were thrilled when the Newham Recorder covered the Challenge and helped us share the news with London and beyond.

“Some 100 schools took part working with their local education authorities like Newham Council to provide free teaching resources based around the Money Wise game.

‘It is extremely important to teach children financial skills,’ Newham’s mayor Rokhsana Fiaz said. ‘We’re committed to supporting families through the worst cost-of-living crisis in decades. The pursuit of financial literacy is key to this goal.’”
